Yale World Fellows are everywhere - including Sao Paulo.

In March of 2014, we teamed up with GIFE, a Brazilian organization focused on furthering social investment in Brazil, for a panel event:  Driving Inclusion in Emerging Economies.

Sponsored by Yale World Fellows and the The Lemann Foundation, the event focused on some key questions: How can high growth countries work towards broad inclusion?  How can philanthropy and impact investing help even the playing field?  What are some lessons learned over the past decade and what are the opportunities and challenges ahead?  Panelists (including Yale World Fellows) from USA, Brazil, Mexico, and Nigeria will share their experiences from their respective work in the fields of innovation, impact investing and philanthropy.

One of our World Fellows, ‘Tokunboh Ishmael, sat on the panel and was inspired to write a piece on “socialness,” the act of doing social good as something that can (and should) be weaved into the DNA of a for-profit company. Click here to read her thoughts.

THE 8TH EDITION OF THE GIFE CONFERENCE

GIFE’s Annual Conference is the main meeting on social investment in Brazil: it’s been held at every 2 years since 2000. The event brings together Brazilian social investors, heads of civil society organizations, academics, consultants and representatives of governments. It serves as a forum for learning, networking and exchanging experiences.

This year, the GIFE Conference will take place from March 19th to 21st in São Paulo. For the schedule, more information and to register for the larger conference click here.
