Heather directs a national NGO - National Youth Agency - which aims to promote the voice and influence of young people and to support all those who work with young people outside of the school environment. Her current role involves responsibility for all of the direct delivery of the Agency’s projects and programs, particularly within the four areas of Quality and Standards, Workforce Development, Targeted Youth Support, and Integrated Youth Support Services. In addition, she is the lead contract manager for the £6 million national body for youth leadership known as “The Youth of Today” and is Youth Theme lead for the newly created Centre for Excellence and Outcomes. A lawyer by profession, Heather began her career in legislative reform before moving into children’s policy. Following her World Fellowship, she served as Director of Skills and Industry in the Northern Ireland Department for Employment and Learning.
