
Alberto de Belaunde is a congressman from the Republic of Peru, winning re-election with the second highest vote in the country. He chairs the Congressional Climate Change Committee and is part of the Justice and Human Rights Committee and the Foreign Relations Committee.
Alberto is the only openly LGBTQ+ congressman in Peru. In 2019, he received the Victory Institute Tammy Baldwin Breakthrough Award for his work for equality. Alberto teaches Legal Ethics in Pacific University and he is a weekly Op-Ed columnist in a national newspaper. He has a master's degree in Spatial Planning and Environmental Management and completed an executive program in Economics of Sustainable Development and Climate Change. He was part of the Global Competitiveness Leadership Program at Georgetown University and part of the Global Shapers Community.
