Head of Policy and Research (Youth Affairs)
Abhik helps member countries of the Commonwealth, a group of 53 countries spread across Africa, Asia Pacific, Latin America and Europe, develop policies and programmes that are critical to the empowerment and development of young people - who constitute more than 60% of the Commonwealth’s population of 2.3 billion. He oversees research and analysis on issues related to education, health, employment, entrepreneurship and socio-political inclusion, among others. He also works in partnership with other international institutions to improve public policy design, implementation and evaluation at the national and international levels. Previously Abhik was a managing editor at The Economist Group and an editor at Bloomberg. He has also been a newspaper editor and television producer in India. Abhik is a trustee at Apples & Snakes, the leading national organisation for poetry and spoken word artists in the UK, and Theatre Rites, a London-based charity dedicated to enriching child education through the arts. He was educated in India and the UK and is a Policy Fellow at the University of Cambridge.
