Will Wright

Will Wright is a graduate of Yaleā€™s Jackson Institute for Global Affairs, where he was a General Wayne A. Downing Scholar and founder of the Yale Special Operations/Interagency Symposium. He is an active duty Major in the US Army Special Forces. Awarded the Harold W. Rosenthal Fellowship in International Relations, he most recently worked in the Deputy Directorate for Special Operations/Counterterrorism on the US Department of Defenseā€™s Joint Staff. Mai Ichihara

Mai Ichihara graduated from Yale in 2020 with a joint degree, Master of Environmental Management and Master of Global Affairs from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs. She is specializing in water resource management with a regional focus in the Asia Pacific. At Yale, she focused on understanding equitable approaches to sustainable development, and she is a strong advocate of integrating ecosystem services, local knowledge, and participatory engagement into urban and rural development interventions.

World Fellows Program marks 16th year

When Norbert Mao came to Yale in 2003, he was a 36-year-old member of Parliament, representing the city of Gulu in the northern region of Uganda. At the time, the area was the epicenter of a decades-long war, and Mao was working with other parliamentarians to bring peace. During his four months on campus, Mao made the most of Yaleā€™s extensive resources and academic offerings. He took advantage of the one-on-one media training provided by the World Fellows Program. Courses in corporate leadership and grand strategy helped expand his leadership skills, and a writing course helped him refine his communications skills.
