Jessica is the Deputy Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean in UNDP. Previously, she was Senior County Director of UNDP in Haiti where she led the recovery and reconstruction efforts of Haiti after the devastating earthquake of 2010 that killed some 230,000 and displaced 1.3 million Haitians. Prior to her assignment in Haiti, Jessica was the United Nations Resident Coordinator in El Salvador and Belize leading the UN as a key partner in helping consolidate democracy, development, and climate change initiatives, and coordinate disaster response. Previously, Jessica was the Chief of Staff to former UN Deputy Secretary-General Mark Malloch Brown in the Executive Office of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, focusing on Iraq reconstruction, UN reform, and the Millennium Development Goals. She has worked for the UN since 1991, including in Guyana, Cuba, Panama, and Argentina during critical periods for these countries: in Cuba, as it opened up to foreign investment; in Panama, during the transfer of the Panama Canal from U.S. to Panamanian hands; and in Argentina, during the political and economic crisis of 2001.
